Hair patch price in Mumbai: the full cost, including the parts nobody quotes
Every studio in Mumbai will give you a number on the phone. Almost none of them will tell you what the year costs. That gap is where most people get an unpleasant surprise around month three, so this piece breaks down both.
The ranges below are what the market looks like across Mumbai, not just us. Where our own pricing sits inside that range, it says so.
What you are actually paying for
A hair system price is made of four things, and they do not contribute equally.
The base. The mesh the hair is tied into. Thin front lace looks invisible at the hairline and wears out fastest. Poly and mono bases are thicker, slightly more visible up close, and last longer. There is no base that is both. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling.
The hair. Indian human hair, remy human hair, European hair and synthetic sit at very different prices. Remy hair — cuticles aligned in one direction — tangles less and lasts longer, and costs roughly double non-remy.
Stock or custom. A stock system comes in standard sizes and is trimmed to fit. A custom system is made from a template of your head, matched to a cutting of your own hair, and takes two to three weeks. Custom costs more and sits flatter, especially if your head is not a standard shape.
The labour. The cutting and blending. This is the least discussed and the most important. The same system, cut well or cut badly, is the difference between nobody noticing and everybody noticing.

We are not the cheapest studio in the area and we do not try to be.
A note on the ₹3,000 patch. These exist, they are real, and they are the reason a lot of people conclude that hair systems look fake. Synthetic fibre reflects light differently from human hair, it cannot be heat-styled, and it is almost never colour-matched to you. If the budget is genuinely ₹3,000, our honest advice is to wait and save rather than buy one.
The part nobody quotes: the running cost
A hair system is not a purchase, it is a subscription. The system price is the smaller half of what you will spend in the first year. The other half is the service visit every three to four weeks — clean, re-bond, re-trim — plus tape, bonding adhesive, remover and shampoo.
Some people hold two systems in rotation, one worn while the other is cleaned and rested. It costs more up front and extends the life of both, so over a few years it can work out cheaper. Worth asking about at the consultation rather than deciding on day one.
What makes the price go up legitimately
- Larger coverage area. Full crown plus mid-scalp costs more than a front patch — more base, more hair, more tying hours.
- Grey blending. A salt-and-pepper match is hand-mixed in percentages and takes longer to get right.
- Curly or wavy texture. Harder to source and match than straight hair.
- Unusual head shape, or a previous transplant. A template becomes necessary rather than optional.
What should make you walk out
- A firm price on the phone before anyone has seen your scalp. The coverage area is not guessable.
- A price that changes on fitting day. Get the quote in writing at the consultation.
- No mention of service visits. If the running cost never comes up, it is being hidden, and you will meet it in month two.
- "Permanent" or "lifetime" language. No hair system is permanent. Bases wear out. That is physics, not service quality.
- Claims of hair regrowth. A system covers. It does not regrow anything. Regrowth is a medical question for a dermatologist or trichologist.
Is it cheaper than a hair transplant?
Over the first year or two, usually yes. Over five years or more, a hair system usually costs more in total, because you keep replacing it.
The trade-offs are different, though. A system gives you full coverage immediately and is reversible. A transplant takes the better part of a year to show and depends on how much donor hair you have. Neither is the correct answer for everyone, and any studio that tells you a transplant is always a bad idea is arguing against your interest, not for it.
